Tracy Flick, an overachieving student, is running for the student government presidency. Jim McAllister, a popular teacher, decides that she needs competition and recruits Paul Metzler, an injured football hero, to compete against Tracy. Tammy Metzler, Paul's younger sister, decides to get revenge on her older brother because Paul unwittingly stole her girlfriend. As the election unfolds moral lines are crossed and the results effect the course of each character's lives in unexpected ways.
